I am a graduate student and potter in Kannapolis, NC. I am currently enrolled in UNC-Charlotte's Education Program to obtain a middle grades science teaching license. I received a B.S. in Biology and B.S. in Environmental Studies from UNC-Asheville in 2008. During this time, I was also involved in UNC-A's art department, taking multiple ceramic and printmaking courses.
I teach pottery classes at Mud Slinger Pottery Studio in Concord, NC on a need basis. During the warm seasons, I share a booth at the Piedmont Farmer's Market with three potters. I also display pottery at Indigo Tea Market in Gold Hill's Historic Downtown. Opportunity has allowed me to work with Hospice & Palliative Care of Cabarrus County to design and make ceramic angels for the 2009 and 2010 Light Up A Life Fundraiser.
Aside from science education and pottery interests, I care for two dogs and chickens at our rental home. My boyfriend and I enjoy working in our vegetable garden at his brother's house along with most anything that allows us to be outdoors. I consider seasonal foods for meals, favor butchering our own chickens, baking bread, and dairy and meat from the farmer's market.
