Morning Glory Carvings

A set of four. Each cup has a detailed drawing of a morning glory from a different angle. The rest of the piece is carved with vines, leaves, and closed buds. They have yet to be fired.

A Kiln At Home

We left the stuffing out last night. A nibbling critter got stuck and couldn't get out.

A small tea pot made as a demo for an evening wheel throwing class at Mud Slingers Pottery.
I hope to take it to The Indigo Tea Market in Historic Gold Hill after it's fired.

A small character I made with the "pinch pot" technique that has yet to be fired.

Purchased this 5.83 cubic feet electric kiln from Carolina Clay Connection in Charlotte.
We are now working on the most effective placement and wiring at home.

Carved Tree Mini Plates

5.25 inches in diameter

Right under 6 inches in diameter

Both plates are thrown with black stoneware purchased at Mud Slingers of Concord, NC
Glazed initially with Mediterranean Mist. Decided would rather use Antique iron, so washed off, but could not get it out of the carved grooves. That is the blue visible. The variety in the matt antique iron glaze gives the trees a mossy look.
Trees were carved when leather hard

Cerulean and Ryoko glaze

These three pieces are all hand thrown with white stoneware.
They are glazed with a Cerulean matte base and partially dipped in Ryoko second.
This gives them a surface that is a mixture of glossy and matte.
The bowl was sold today at the Piedmont Farmer's Market on Winecoff School Road.
